not exactly zine related but..

Hello,

My name is David Smith. I'm a mid-michigan based art/music events promoter and I'm currently working with the local UndergroundRailroad Womens Shelter to put together an art music event based around the agency's mission of 1) providing safety, empowerment and change through free and confidential services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking and 2) providing leadership and programs in the community on issues of violence against women.

Basically we're looking for art/artists that reflect the feminist philosophy of the agency.
Such as artists/musicians that are survivors or at least loosely related to issues of sexual/domestic/dating violence, the impact of abuse or inequality in our society or on individuals, social justice themes, empowerment, survival, healing, etc.

If you just so happen to be (or know of) an artist/musician/poet/performance-artist in the Michigan area that would fit the bill than please get ahold of me via email.

Thank you

David Smith

HEY! Midland is having an Artist's Market August 10. I'm selling trendy long necklaces and other jewelry, all under $10.

A 10x6 space costs $25. You can email Kathy Space at spaceke@spacestudios.net. She is organizing it, if you want a sell your creations. It is at the Tridge/farmer's market and there will be a bands playing there. Overall a great relaxing evening in the park.

PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS!

Hi,

We're getting ready to put out Issue 06 of Look-Look Magazine and are on the search for anyone who would be interested in creating one of our ads. How it works is that each company is assigned 10 artists who each create that company's ad using their logos and creative brief. The company then selects the ad they like the most and it is published in Look-Look Magazine and put onto look-lookmagazine.com. For other issues of the magazine artists have worked on ads for Apple Computers, Sony Pictures and Virgin Mobile, among others. In the past our ad artists have made their ads by hand on paper or on the computer using such programs as Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator, or InDesign. All of these methods are acceptable. We prefer for completed ads to be uploaded to our FTP site on the Internet, but we will accept ads through the mail as long as they are received by the necessary deadline. Ad artists in the past have found this to be a very positive and unique experience. Few corporations in the world turn over their creative assets to amateur artists and allow them to do anything. In the end, the ad serves as a great portfolio piece for everyone involved. If this is something you would like to do, please answer the questions below and send them back to me in an email.

Your Name:
Age:
Address:
Telephone number:
When you are available to design an ad:
Can you create an ad and return it to us on a tight deadline (Yes, I can/No, I prefer to have a lot of time)?
Are you an amateur artist under the age of 30 (yes/no)?
Are you willing to do an ad for any sponsoring company (yes/no)
